JEDSN 2017 Scholarships

For graduate students enrolled in the Jamaican Summer Educational Leadership Program at Central Connecticut State University:

The Jamaica Educator Development and Support Network (JEDSN) Scholarships will be awarded, for three-hundred (US$300.00) Dollars each, to two graduate students.

    To qualify, the student must:
  • Have a maximum of 12 credits to complete the program
  • Have a graduate cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
  • Document financial need in a written statement of 250 words or less
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from your employer or professor

The Basil R. A. Mahoney, Jr. Memorial Scholarship will be awarded, for one-hundred (US$100.00) Dollars, to a graduate student.

    To qualify, the student must:
  • Have a maximum of 12 credits to complete the program
  • Have a graduate cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
  • Document financial need in a written statement of 250 words or less
  • Submit a plan of no more than six pages (including references) that meets the following criteria:
    • Document an issue in your community of practice or a situation/ policy that is impeding the effort to ensure that the education system is preparing learners to be college and career ready.
    • Share the evidence that demonstrates that the issue/present status is detrimental and is counter to the successful application of 21st century learning standards.
    • Identify the desired outcome(s) and at least two recent research articles that support your idea as a plausible solution.
    • Identify specific goals and develop a theory of action (solution or strategies to address the issue to bring about improvement/desired outcome or solution).
    • Prepare a proposal/presentation that will highlight the benefits and outcomes. For example, positive changes to be realized as a result of effective implementation of the proposed plan.
    • Your proposal must be original, reflect logical thought process, and be pragmatic.
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from your employer or professor
